I’ve just arrived

Is SnowyPaw free?

Yes, every single post. You won’t be asked to sign up or log in to read anything here, today or on your hundredth visit.

Do you track what I read?

No. Readers get no cookies from us, and there are no ads, analytics or tracking pixels on the site. The privacy page lists the small amount we do keep, and why.

I liked a post. How do I find more like it?

Look under the post for its #topic tags and tap one: you’ll see that subject from every writer on the site. Or open the writer’s own blog and browse their categories.

Can I get new posts without checking back every day?

Yes, with RSS. Paste /handle/feed.xml (swap in the writer’s handle) into any feed reader app and their new posts will turn up there. Want the whole site? Use /feed.xml.

I want to leave a comment

How do I comment?

Scroll to the end of a post, write your name and your comment, and press Post comment. That’s it: you won’t need an account, and we don’t ask for an email.

I posted a comment and it vanished. Did I break something?

Not at all. Guest comments wait in a queue until one of our moderators approves them, and only then do they appear under the post. A comment that never gets approved is cleared out of the queue after 30 days.

What kind of comments get approved?

Kind, on-topic ones. Questions, thank-yous and polite disagreement are all lovely. Spam and rudeness don’t make it through. The details are in Be kind.

I made a typo. Can I edit my comment?

Sadly not by yourself, because guest comments aren’t linked to an account. We can remove it for you, though: go to the contact page, choose “My data and privacy”, and give us the post link and the name you commented under.

I’d like to write here

How do I get a blog?

By invitation. There isn’t a public sign-up page. Tell us a little about yourself on the contact page under “I’d like to write here”. If you’ve already been invited, use Sign in.

If I write something here, is it still mine?

Yes, it stays yours. You simply let SnowyPaw host and show it, on your blog and in RSS feeds. The fine print spells this out.

May I link to my own site?

Please do. Your profile has a spot for a website link, and posts can include regular links to your site and to your sources.

What if I change my mind about a post?

Ask us through the contact page and say which posts should go, or whether it’s the whole blog. We’ll take them down.

Something doesn’t look right

I found a post or comment that shouldn’t be here.

Thank you for telling us. On the contact page, pick “Flag a post or comment” and paste its link, and a moderator will look at it.

How do I talk to an actual human?

The contact page is the only way in, and every message goes straight to our inbox. If your note needs an answer, it’ll arrive at the email address you typed in.
